Sustainability

The goal of BZK Deutschland GmbH’s sustainability system is to maintain the highest standards throughout the entire production cycle—from raw materials to the final product. At the same time, we ensure that we comply with the requirements of Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of renewable energies and the law of August 25, 2006 on biocomponents and liquid biofuels.

The biocomponents, such as dehydrated ethanol and methyl esters, are produced according to strict sustainability criteria along the entire production chain. This chain begins with the agricultural producers who grow the required raw materials. All companies within this production chain have implemented and certified sustainability systems, including ISCC EU, REDcert EU or KZR INiG.

We source the raw materials for the production of sustainable organic components through contracts directly from agricultural producers, producer groups and intermediary companies.

When selling sustainable raw materials:

  • Agricultural producers confirm – in addition to each contract concluded – by means of a declaration that they participate in the direct payment system and that the raw materials sold come from their own cultivation. These meet the criteria of sustainable development according to Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.
  • Producer groups and intermediary companies are required to present a valid certificate from a voluntary sustainability scheme for biofuel production approved by the European Commission at the time of sale.

The sustainability system certificate confirms that the company meets all the criteria and requirements of the system and Directive 2009/28/EC. The prerequisite for receiving the certificate is a positive result in the certification audit, which is carried out by an independent certification body. The sustainability certificate is awarded for a period of one year.

A list of certification bodies that can help you obtain the certificate under the chosen sustainability scheme can be found on the websites of the respective schemes.
